MOA Conversions
1 MOA = TO 1.0472 INCHES
1 MOA in inches at known yardages
This is a simple process to utilize. To start, with a yardage in whole numbers, simply take the yardage and multiply the first number by the number 1.
Example #1: YARDAGE = (1)00 1 X 1 = 1 SQ Inches
Example #2: YARDAGE = (3)00 3 X 1 = 3 SQ Inches
So for given yardages from 1oo to 3000 the process is the same.
Examples: 100 YDS 1 MOA = 1 SQ Inches
200 YDS 1 MOA = 2 SQ Inches
300 YDS 1 MOA = 3 SQ Inches
600 YDS 1 MOA = 6 SQ Inches
For half or quarter numbers the process is the same but with add in the 2 nd number.
150 YDS 1 MOA = 1.5 SQ Inches
250 YDS 1 MOA = 2.5 SQ Inches
850 YDS 1 MOA = 8.5 SQ Inches
With this knowledge we can start to make corrections in the bullets impact.
1 INCH
Example #1: @ 100 yds the bullet impacts 1 inch low measured from center.
We need to convert the error to moa 1 st/ 1 moa @ 100 yds = 1 inch
So we now know that at 100 yds, 1 moa = 1 inch. the impact of the round is 1 inch or 1 moa low.
To make the adjustment on a scope that has ¼ moa adjustments the shooter need only turn the elevation turret 4 clicks in the proper direction achiving a 1 moa correction.
To calculate the correct click adjustment the shooter need only multiple the minute of angle by (4) which is the scope adjustment for minutes of angle.
Example #1: the impact correction is 3 moa. the shooter multiplies 3 x 4 = 12 clicks of adjustment.
