Special ammunitions, such as AP (armor piercing ammunition) and tracer ammunition are produced in caliber's 5.56 and 7.62 mm. The 9 mm HP (high performance ammunition) is a standard type of ammunition but with enhanced penetration capability. ARMOR PIERCING AMMUNITION The Department of Defense of the United States
has acquired large quantities of 5.56 AP (armor-piercing) ammunition, designated
XM995 as well as 7.62 ammunition, The new-generation armor piercing ammunition
from Bofors Carl Gustaf for assault rifle or machine gun is designed for
full effect against modern targets. CGTEC, a division of Bofors Carl Gustaf AB, is responsible for applying military technology to the commercial market in the form of protection and safety.
